Scottish Marathons and Ultra Marathons . . . some of the most exciting and challenging races from around Scotland.

Name of Race: Double Marathon

Location: Glasgow to Edinburgh

Distance: 56 miles

Month Held: March

Number of Participants: About 80

Website: Glasgow to Edinburgh Double Marathon

Information:

Part of the Montane Scottish Ultra Marathon Series of nine independently organised Scottish Ultra Marathons that form a season-long championship. : Series Website

The City to City double marathon follows the Forth & Clyde and Union canals from Ruchill Park in Glasgow to Edinburgh Quay, near Haymarket Railway Station.

The 56 mile course is largely flat along canal towpaths past the Antonine Wall and the Falkirk Wheel. This central belt Ultra is growing rapidly due to its good transport links and convenience for Scotland’s main centres of population.

Completion times in 2010 ranged from 6h 22m to 12h 40m
