Eagle
Isle Ultra takes place on the rugged island of Mull on Scotland’s west
coast. Starting at historic Duart Castle the event will see participants
summit mountains, negotiate mountain ridges and isolated glens, pass rivers
and lochs glistening with salmon and trout and tackle ancient forests and
the legendary ‘Wilderness’ area of Mull. After 120 km’s and three days,
participants will descend on the beautiful town of Tobermory to cross the
finish line.
During
the early stages of the event the views reach to mainland Argyll, a view
which is magnified as the nearby mountains are ascended on our ‘short’ first
day. Following a night spent by the shore near the village of Salen we will
begin day two with a long haul across mountain pass and lochside track into
the mountainous interior of the island. Following a crossing of Mull’s
‘wilderness’ area we will descend and finish along one of the country’s most
scenic single track roads on the shores of Loch Na Keal. Day three features
a very different type of route with the bulk being spent in the forests to
the north of the island before our finish in the beautiful village of
Tobermory.
