Information:
Although Edinburgh has been voted as one of the top marathons by readers of
Runners' World it has had a lot of criticism over the last couple of years.
This was not helped by 2009 and 2010 being unusually hot for Scotland
(around 25 - 26 degrees).
In 2009 they
ran out of water (a big boy took it and ran away) - I saw lots of runners
begging for water from spectators - I managed to get some from an ambulance
at one stage. The other big issue is that, rather than running through the
beautiful, historic city, it heads out through industrial wasteland and ends
at Musselburgh - miles from the city. Getting the bus back takes hours!!
Having said all
this, the Edinburgh Marathon, is certainly one to put on your Must-Do list
(hopefully all the little organisational niggles will soon get fixed out).
