Scottish Marathons and Ultra Marathons . . . some of the most exciting and challenging races from around Scotland.

Name of Race: Kintyre Way Relay & Ultra Run

Location: Tarbert to Campbeltown

Distance: 36, 45 or 67 miles

Month Held: May

Number of Participants: Around 10

Website:  Kintyre Way Relay & Ultra Run

Information:

The Kintyre Way Relay is a cross-country event for walkers and runners, from Tarbert to Campbeltown along the Kintyre Way, Scotland’s most scenic long-distance path.

Varied terrain, from hill paths and forestry tracks to beaches and seaside rocks.

Stunning scenery with views across the sea to Arran, Islay, Jura and Gigha.

Ultra-Runners tend to complete the race in 12 - 15 hours

There are three Ultra Options:

•Tayinloan - Campbeltown, 35½ miles. Ideal for your first ultra.
•Clachan - Campbeltown, 45 miles. Try it this year in preparation for the 67 miles next year!
•Tarbert - Campbeltown, 67 miles. A good training run if you're doing the West Highland Way race.

The Relay:

Structure

The route is divided up into 6 sections and a relay team consists of up to 6 runners who can share out the sections in any way they like. For example, with a team of 3 runners, named A, B and C, they might do:

A, B, B, C, B, A

Check mileages from the table below and you can see their totals would be:

A: 25½, B: 26, C:15½

The rules are:
•you can only change over at checkpoints,
•you need to let us know at check-in who is doing which sections (and stick to it!)
•notify a checkpoint marshal immediately if you drop out before completing your section(s)
