William Sichel  01.10.1953 Sanday Orkney AC  A legend of our times, William  has set multiple ultra distance running records (from 12 Hours to 1000 miles) at World, British and Scottish level including numerous age-group records.

1st: 2001 Boston Games 12hr Track Race : 141.501 km
Marco Consani  15.11.1974 Glasgow Garscube Harriers   Namesake of the Marcothon - in which over 1000 people worldwide run every day in December. Marco clocked up an incredible 154.1 miles (248km) in the SELF TRANSCENDENCE 24 hour track race at Tooting in 2013. In doing he achieved a Great Britain A selection when he passed the 234km mark.

Don Mcgregor 1939 St Andrews   Don competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, representing Great Britain in the Men's Marathon event. He finished in 7th position in 2:16:34 Wiki:
Charlie Ramsay       Charlie Ramsay devised 'Ramsay's Round' -  a long distance fell running challenge near Fort William. The route is a circuit of 58 miles, taking in 24 summits with a total climb of around 28,500 feet. Ben Nevis, Great Britain's highest peak, is included in the route along with 22 other Munros. Dr. Andy Murray 1980 Edinburgh  UVU Racing Team  Adventure runner, Andy hit the headlines when in 2011 he completed a 2,659 mile run from John O’Groats to the Sahara desert.(see his book The Ultimate Marathon Man - Scotland to the Sahara.) His  latest running project, is running through East Africa; making a film about what makes these local runners so fast, and jogging up Kilimanjaro, through spectacular game parks.

Debbie Martin-Consani 04.04.1975 Glasgow Garscube Harriers  2012 Female Ultra Runner of the Year. Debbie represented GB in the 24 hour World Championships (2012) where she put in a great run to record 135miles. She has set three Scottish records: 100m (15:48), 200km (20:55) and 24 hour (217km).

Lucy Colquhoun 13.04.1971 Carnethy Carnethy Hill Runners  Lucy holds the women's record for the West Highland Way Race which she set in 2007 with a time of 17:16:20 - coming second overall.

Sharon Law 09.03.1975 Kilbirnie Garscube Harriers In 2013 Sharon received the award of Masters Athlete of the Year.  A well deserved acknowledgment of her excellent performance at the World 24hr race.

Fionna Cameron 28.01.1980 Harmeny AC   Fiona was second woman in the 2013 Highland Fling Race improving by over 90 minutes compared to the last time she ran the race in 2011. She qualified for the GB & NI team for the IAU Trail World Championships

Ray McCurdy 21.12.1953 Glasgow 100 Marathon Club  One of the UK's most prolific ultra marathon runners. Ray has completed over 100 ultras and around 200 marathons. An ultra without Ray is as rare as an ultra without jellie-babies.
Strangely Ray shows as being in the M60 category of many 2013 races even though he was 59 at the time.

Joasia Zakrzewski 19.01.1976 Dumfries   Joasia (Joanna / Jo) Zakrzewski won the Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon in New Orleans in 2011 in 2hrs 47 minutes. The Dumfries-based athlete posted the best marathon time recorded by a UK female in that year.  Jo was 1st woman in the gruelling Atacama Crossing in the dry desert of Chile in 2010 where she led the women's race from the start and placed seventh overall, having completed the entire 250km in a superb time of 33:37:30.

Alastair Hutton 1954     Alastair won the London Marathon in 1990 in 2:10:10. He competed in three consecutive Commonwealth Games for Scotland during his career, starting in 1978. He won the National Crosscountry Champions Scotland in 1978 and 1982. Wiki:
